Mullangi Kootu | How to make Radish Curry

Mullangi Kootu

Mullangi Kootu is an easy side dish that gets cooked very fast and tastes good with steamed rice. When you are bored with what else to make with Radish, this is a wonderful dish to make.

Amma made this first and we served it with Rice. With steamed rice and appalam, this tastes very good.

We mostly make Radish sambar and later moved on to make poriyal with radish which also tastes good. The only drawback is always the smell when this gets cooked. However, as this kootu, the radish tastes very good.

For the final day of Regional dishes, I decided to share this dish that is not easily found on a restaurant menu. We are doing the BM#100, Week 1.

  1. That’s a interesting recipe . I have never used radish in Curries . Mooli ki sabzi is made at times , but that’s more of the leaves with little radish . Should try this koot this winter .

  2. I usually use radish only know sambar and any other recipe I make there are no takers. I guess, I can safely try this recipe as it looks fantastic. The onion, tomatoes and the ground spices will help with the masking of radish smell.

  3. That is such an interesting way to cook with radish. That masala paste must have added so much flavor to the dish. The good thing with the radishes here in US is they don’t smell as much as the ones in India 🙂
